Oh' Farms Herbs & Spices

Basic

Oh' Farms has a good collection of culinary herbs like Sweet Basil, rosemary, etc and also some commonly seen local Chinese herbs in our herbs garden. Together with some commonly used spices used in Asian cuisine like ginger and pepper, the herbs garden is a must-see item in the farm.

Herbs

Herbs are plants that possess medicinal values. Usually only the leafy part of the plant is used. Culinary herbs are usually used for enhancing the flavour of dishes, either fresh or cooked with the recipe. Whereas Chinese herbs are usually dried before use which need concoction before consumption. Many Chinese herbs must be consumed in moderation and with the recommendations of a qualified Chinese physician.

Spices

Any other part of a plant except the leaves can be made into spices, eg. the roots (ginger), twigs, barks (cinnamon), fruits (tamarind) or the berries (pepper). It is used to enhance the flavour of food and it can be dried without losing its flavour.
