How to use the Starter Kit

The set comes with a 24-cubed sponge, instruction sheet, 2 net pots, 1 packet of leca, 1 set of nutrient solution and a packet of seed of your choice.

Using the Water bottle method

1. Put 2 seeds into a cube of sponge. Make sure that the seeds are embedded in the sponge but not too far deep in the sponge.

2. Place it in water, it floats. Squeeze the sponge to release air from the sponge, making sure that the whole sponge is filled with water. The sponge is submerged when filled with water.

3. Use a recycled water bottle. Cut it into 2.

4. Remove the labels and the bottle cap.

5. Place the sponge into the bottle neck with the seed going into the neck first. Half the sponge should protrude out of the bottle neck.

6. Pre-mix the nutrient solution. 1 litre of tap water to be mix with 5 ml of Nutrient A and 5 ml of Nutrient B.

7. Pour the nutrient solution into the bottle. Place the top part into the bottle.

8. Do not fill the nutrient solution up to the brim. As long as the sponge touches the nutrient solution will do. Keep the air gap.

Change the solution once a week, this is to prevent algae from growing in the nutrient solution.

9. Leave the whole set up at a place where sunlight can reach but no rain.

Using the "McFlurry" method

3. Place the sponge right to the bottom of the net pot.

4. Fill the net pot with leca to prevent mosquito breeding

5. Pre-mix the nutrient solution. 1 litre of tap water to be mix with 5 ml of Nutrient A and 5 ml of Nutrient B.

6. Pour the nutrient into the McFlurry container till it touches 1/3 of the net pot height.

7. Leave the set up somewhere with sunlight but no rain. Change the nutrient solution once a week to ensure good growth
